BARR Unveils Comprehensive Wellness Plan

The year 2020 is officially the year of wellness at BARR Advisory with the launch of our enhanced Benefits Program. The program builds on BARR’s already comprehensive benefits structure, but now includes a host of new wellness perks. Here are some highlights of the plan:  

TIME-OFF INCENTIVES

  • Unlimited PTO
    BARR associates work hard and provide unparalleled service to our clients. We are proud to offer unlimited PTO to all full-time associates, and we encourage each associate to take at least 25 days (or five weeks) of PTO per year.
  • Maternity and paternity leave
    Maternity leave at BARR is 12 weeks paid, with the option of additional four weeks unpaid for a total of 16 weeks. Fathers receive four weeks to be taken within 90 days of their child’s birth.
  • Sabbatical leave
    Once you have been with BARR for at least five consecutive years, you are eligible for a four-week paid sabbatical leave. Every five years after that your sabbatical increases by one week.
  • Ferris Bueller days
    Each quarter, two associates are nominated by their teammates to win a Ferris Bueller Day. Winners receive $50 each and the day off to enjoy a wellness activity (golf, yoga, nap) to rejuvenate.

FINANCIAL INCENTIVES

  • Office reimbursement plan
    Because all BARR associates work remotely, we also provide a tax-free reimbursement of $450 per month for use of either home office or an office space of the associate’s choice. Don’t use it? It’s yours to keep! That’s an additional $5,400 per year tax-free. On top of that, BARR provides a $66 per month cell phone reimbursement.
  • Free health coverage
    Yes, you read that right. Each associate is provided free coverage, including dental, for themselves through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City. Plans allow you to add coverage for your dependents at competitive rates.
  • Retirement plan
    BARR offers a 401(k) plan, and matches 100 percent of the first three percent of your contributions, then 50 percent up to five percent.
  • Stock appreciation plan
    After two years at BARR, associates are offered Stock Appreciation Rights, giving you a direct stake in the growth of the company.
  • Associate referral program
    Our best candidates come from our current associates. If you refer a candidate, they are hired and complete six months of employment with BARR, you are eligible to receive a referral bonus of $1,500.

  • 100% remote working environment
    BARR associates live and work remotely in cities across the U.S. With extensive remote resources, strong communication tools and endless opportunities to collaborate, associates can expect to work in a warm, close-knit culture that supports a healthy work-life balance.
  • Professional development
    We pay to establish or retain ISACA, AICPA and other industry memberships. And if you successfully complete a professional exam, BARR will reimburse you for study materials and the exam/certificate, along with reimbursement so you can maintain those credentials. You can also participate in at least one training event each year on BARR’s dime, lead or listen to our many lunch-and-learns.   • Annual company retreat
    BARR pays for associates (and their significant others) to join us for our annual company retreat.
  • Wellness challenges
    Each quarter, our Culture Committee announces a fun, opt-in challenge. Challenges can be anything wellness-related, focusing on things like exercise, sleep, meditation and more. Currently, the team is tackling a water challenge to help boost hydration habits.
