What’s your go-to book or podcast right now?

[Podcast] How I Built This with Guy Raz
It is always fascinating to learn about the many failures most successful entrepreneurs had to overcome before their major breakthrough.

[Book] Superforecasters by Philip Tetlock and Dan Gardner
This book catalogs the traits that make people successful at identifying important trends in a wide range of contexts. I like their advice to be “dragonfly-eyed,” i.e. to value diverse views and synthesize them into your own. This is especially relevant in a fast moving industry, where you always need to be learning from others. No one person can have all the answers.

What is your biggest accomplishment?

Playing sports growing up, I received the “most coachable” award multiple times. While this might not have been the most eye-catching award at the time, I now understand the criticality of accepting constructive feedback and learning from it.

What excites you about where the industry is going?

Cybersecurity is continuing to drive important discussions — in the news, at conferences, and in the workplace. With cybersecurity at the forefront of our minds, companies are more willing to make the crucial investments they need to be adequately secured.

What is the most important personal attribute you bring to your job?

Willingness to learn. This is paramount in the ever-changing field of technology.

Favorite quote.

From my favorite poem, The Man in The Glass: “You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years/ And get pats on the back as you pass/ But your final reward will be heartache and tears/ If you’ve cheated the [wo]man in the glass.”

Why should clients choose BARR?

We are flexible with our clients and able to tailor our approach to each organization’s unique needs — providing value in the most effective way possible.
