We’re thrilled to officially introduce you to Whitney Lindsey, people operations manager, who joined the growing BARR Advisory team last fall. In her role, Whitney is responsible for recruiting new talent, onboarding, supporting each phase of the associate life cycle, and enhancing our values-driven work environment. She also supports wellness activities, benefits, and compensation administration.

“I’m thrilled to get the chance to have an impact on who we hire and how we develop our people,” said Whitney. “I love that BARR is a small company because that means we get to literally carve our own path forward.”

Whitney was drawn to the camaraderie of the BARR team, and says she could see how her strengths fit well with the company’s needs.

“Our team is transparent, collaborative, and fun to work with,” she said. “People at BARR care and take the time to do things right. I felt an immediate fit here because I consider two of my strengths to be communication and coaching. I bring a proactive, strategic approach to people operations.”

Now that she has nearly nine months at BARR under her belt, Whitney has this advice for those looking to break into the cybersecurity industry: “Absorb, listen, and learn. This industry changes so quickly, and I’ve noticed the most successful individuals are those who keep on top of trends and technologies.”

As for what gets her up in the morning, Whitney has two sons, ages three and six.

“They are the silliest, most exhausting, and most fun humans ever,” she said. “I hope every day to provide them with confidence, challenge, and excitement. I also hope they are kind to others, now more than ever.”

And we can’t forget the family dog, Peter, who Whitney deems the “quirkiest, sweetest, fastest Golden Retriever out there.”

Whitney also enjoys cooking, especially anything spicy.

“I love experimenting with different taco, rice, and salsa recipes,” she said. “My all-time favorite cookbook is ‘Cook Like a Rockstar’ by Anne Burrell.”

She also spends her time taking long walks, listening to podcasts, and biking.

“Other than that, my favorite spot is on my porch with a glass of wine!” she adds.

Whitney has found so much success and identified countless opportunities for continued enhancements in her role at BARR that she will be moving to a full-time employee as of Aug. 3, 2020. Congrats, Whitney!
