With more than 12 years of marketing experience under her belt, Jennifer Knobel, marketing manager at BARR, has worked in a number of different industries – from higher education to insurance to nonprofits and beyond. She brings her skills to BARR with the goal of enhancing marketing efforts, writing for the company blog, editing reports, and managing social media accounts.
Her track record shows she’ll be able to do all that and more. Previously, she worked at Donnelly College, a small college in Kansas City, Kansas, giving it its first-ever brand.
“It’s crazy to think that right out of college I built an entire brand from scratch,” said Knobel. “Looking back, I had no idea what an accomplishment and undertaking that was.”
She then joined the marketing team at Rockhurst University, eventually moving up the ranks to become the director of marketing. There, she helped drive enrollment numbers and overall brand awareness. In 2018, she started her own freelance marketing agency, Knobel Marketing Services, which she continues operating today.
“Writing is my true love,” said Knobel. “And I’m lucky enough to get to do what I love every day at BARR. When I learned about this position, it felt like a great fit. The work is great, but the team and overall company culture is even better.”
Even though BARR associates work remotely, Knobel says it is a close-knit group.
“I was surprised at how much we all talk, and not just about work. We definitely have fun together.”
But first, she had to dip her toes into the cybersecurity industry.
“I have to admit, this was all new to me,” she said. “It interests me because I feel data security is going to become – if it hasn’t already – one of the most important aspects of a company’s policies and procedures.”
“Protecting data is absolutely vital. Every day we hear about new data breaches and identity theft issues. Companies like BARR can help organizations protect themselves and their customers. I’m excited to be a small part of that.”
As for what inspires her, Knobel says it is her family, which includes her husband, Greg, daughters Maria (age 10) and Brooke (age 2), and their Old English Sheepdog named Mabel.
