BARR Advisory has officially joined the Time to Vote initiative, encouraging employees to vote.

At BARR, we believe associates should never have to choose between work obligations and voting. That is why our company officially became a member of the Time to Vote initiative—a nonpartisan effort that demonstrates the power of what the business community can achieve when it works to address voter participation.

“We strongly feel that by businesses coming together, we can have an even greater impact on voting numbers overall,” said Lauren Hannawald, Chief Operating Officer at BARR. “By joining the Time to Vote campaign, we are not only making a commitment to our employees, allowing them the time they need to vote in whichever method is most convenient to them, but we’re also making a commitment to the future of our country.”

This campaign has generated more than 1,500 business participants—much more than anticipated, likely due to the increased complexity of voting during a global pandemic.

“This year, it’s not just about ensuring associates have time off from work to vote,” added Hannawald. “It’s also about making sure no one has to risk their safety and health to cast their ballot.”

Since late August, BARR leaders have been sharing vital voting information with the full team, including voting locations, early voting tips, mail-in process details, ballot tracking, and more.

BARR is also proud to share its Time Off for Voting Policy that states: “BARR believes that it is the responsibility and duty of associates to vote in elections. In accordance with this philosophy, associates are granted approved time off to vote. All associates should be able to vote either before or after regularly assigned work hours. However, when this is not possible due to work schedules, they are authorized to take a reasonable period of time off, up to three hours, during the work day to vote.”

Finally, the company made time during its third annual Day of Giving on October 20, 2020, for associates to make a plan to vote.
